Why We Exist

Your first baby, that first year. It’s really overwhelming. One of the things that seemed the hardest was just knowing what we needed. What should we even ask for at the baby shower? What do we need after that newborn stage, and then the stage after that? Don't worry, we’re here to help—because we lived through it ourselves.

What you’ll need that first year:

First Stage: What to ask for at your baby shower/from your in-laws/anyone who offers to help:

  1. A baby bouncer like these to have a place for your baby to hangout while you’re washing bottles, making their bottles, etc:

    —the Baby Delight Bouncer which is a bit cheaper (we had this one, it was great but I just wouldn't expect it to last for another baby, it’s not as high quality as the Baby Bjorn) https://amzn.to/4dh9rqF

  2. Bottles—around 6 was a good number for us (for you, it will depend on whether or not you’re breastfeeding directly vs pumping vs formula). We liked these because they are mostly glass and we were a little concerned about using plastic with our LO (ie little one): https://amzn.to/4n2HwxW

  3. Some sort of bottle washing system to save your marriage (we joke, but bottle washing can seriously be one of the biggest possible sources of conflict)—we couldn’t afford the fancy bottle washer a lot of friends liked (https://amzn.to/4cNlyvy), so we found this dishwasher basket one for Dr. Brown bottles, and let me tell you, it’s worth 1000x its weight in couple’s therapy bills.   4. A recliner for nursing/pumping/reading bedtime stories, they are pricey but it’s really nice for a tired, nursing or pumping mama —we liked this one: https://amzn.to/4tNGNn3. Of course, check your local Facebook marketplace for deals on recliners too!

  5. A bassinet (it’s recommended that baby sleep in the same room as you the first 6 months), we liked this one: https://amzn.to/4cKNOim

  6. A shower support “lounger” to give your little one baths early on (great for establishing a nighttime routine!), we liked this one: https://amzn.to/4urk8g9. It worked great for us until our LO started wanting to sit up around 6 months.
